Obituary of Daniel Patrick Maneely
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Patrick Maneely, known to all who loved him simply as Pop, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on June 28, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family under the loving care of Hospice. A proud veteran, loyal husband, loving father and grandfather, and friend to many, Danny lived a life grounded in service, humor, and deep love for his family.
Born on October 14, 1945, to Arthur and Anita Maneely, Danny grew up with a strong sense of duty and pride in his roots. He answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy in 1967. Danny served aboard the USS Conserver during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Radarman Third Class (RD-3) before his honorable discharge in 1970. He remained immensely proud of his service throughout his life.
On November 22, 1969, Danny married the love of his life, Sheila Paye. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and music. Their bond remained strong for more than five decades, and Sheila survives him.
Danny is also survived by his three sons, each of whom carry forward his strength and values:
Patrick Maneely and his wife Heather, Matthew Maneely and his wife Traci and Corey Maneely.
He leaves behind his beloved sister, Betty Maneely Walsh (James); brothers, Robert Maneely (Judy) and Michael Maneely, who he shared a very special friendship with. Also many nieces and nephews who cherished his presence and stories.
Danny was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Anita Maneely; his sister, Alice Tatro; brothers, James Arthur Maneely and Howard Maneely; and sisters, Mary Ann Griffin and Kathleen Dumas.
Also predeceased by twin granddaughters, Caileigh and Rylee Maneely—daughters of Matt and Traci.
To his grandchildren, Pop was a hero, a jokester, and a role model. He was incredibly proud of each of them:
Kylie, Ethan (wife Bailey), Alyssa (wife Gianna), Nevan (wife Courtney), Darius, Madison (husband Dan), Paul, Noah, Jacob, Aiyana, Preston, and Paxton and his special little buddy Camden.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Everlee, Haelynn and Beau.
Danny’s life was filled with service beyond the military. He worked with dedication for General Motors, Stroehmann Bread Company, Superior Glass, and the Gabriels Correctional Facility. He also served the Malone community as a Village Fireman and later as a Malone Callfiremen. Danny owned and operated Maneely Heating and, alongside his wife and children, brought music and joy to countless celebrations through Powerplay DJ Service.
He was a proud member of the American Legion, AMVETS, the Elks Lodge, and the VFW—places where he found friendship and purpose after his military service.
Pop taught us how to live, taught us how to laugh, and taught us how to love. He was the heart of our family and the kind of man who left everyone better for having known him.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 8 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Notre Dame Church in Malone, followed immediately by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM.
Donations may be made in his memory to any veterans organization or to Hospice of the North Country.
A reception will follow the funeral at the Malone Callfiremen Station.
