Wayne Edmund Kelley passed away at home on July 4, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family and under Hospice care. His life centered around caring for his family, always the loving husband, father, and Papa.
Born on December 10, 1936, to John and Marie Kelley, Wayne grew up with a strong commitment and devotion to family, faith, and hard work. He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1957.
On June 22, 1968, he married Theresa Ann Maneeley. Together they built a home filled with love and support. Everything that Wayne did was focused on caring for his wife and four children.
After retiring from McCadam Cheese, Wayne worked in maintenance at the Malone Golf Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. He became the primary care giver for Theresa, after her diagnoses. Wayne was an avid bowler and a founding member of the “Kelley Five.”
He was never good with names, and so he called everyone “Buck.” Wayne liked to joke and kid around; he always found a way to make those around him laugh and feel at ease.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Theresa, and his children, Susan Kelley (Bruce), Michael Kelley (Jenna), and Julie Mitchell (Jon), and his loyal dog, Bella. His grandchildren, Marina Kamora, Kyle and Khloe Mitchell, Charles Thompson, and Keegan and Peyton Kelley, will miss their Papa dearly. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack and Paul Kelley.
Wayne was predeceased by his son, Kyle Kelley, his parents, John and Marie Kelley, and his brother Jerry Kelley.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 10 to 11:30 at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on July 10 at 12pm at Notre Dame Church, followed by the burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Fort Covington Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Country, Helpful Haven Respite Center at St. Andre Bessette Outreach Center, or as a mass intention.
