David L. Tavernia, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 72, in Malone, NY. Born on September 16, 1953, David dedicated his life to his family and his community, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
David was a mechanic at the Malone Central School Bus Garage, where his remarkable skills and attention to detail made him an invaluable asset. Knowing there wasn't anything he couldn't fix, he inspired those around him with his problem-solving abilities and unwavering professionalism.
A proud outdoorsman, David relished every moment spent hunting, camping, and four-wheeling. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether tending to his garden or tinkering with tools and machines. David's love for the outdoors and his commitment to hands-on work left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Tavernia; his two sons, Cory (Kimberly) Tavernia and Chad Tavernia; his siblings, Frank (Thelma) Tavernia and Judy Morey; and his two adored grandsons, Brody and Liam Tavernia. He will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to share in his life.
In celebrating David's remarkable life, the family will hold a Funeral Service at Notre Dame Church on October 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a Graveside Service at St. John Bosco Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
As we gather to remember and celebrate David's life, let us honor his spirit by sharing stories, laughter, and embrace in the great outdoors he adored. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, reminding us to cherish every moment we have together.
David was preceded in death by: his parents, Leo and Mary (Wood) Tavernia; brother, Fred Tavernia; sister-in-law, Elaine Tavernia; and brother, Ronnie Tavernia.
