Brad M. Garrow Obituary

Brad M. Garrow, 36, laid down his shield on Wednesday, December 17, at CVPH Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY, surrounded by love, after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

Brad was born on February 21, 1989, to Howard and Tami (Hebert) Garrow. He was a 2007 graduate of Franklin Academy High School, where he played football, wrestled, and played baseball.

After graduating high school, Brad entered the workforce and held several jobs, most notably his time as an aide/monitor at MCSD and as a Corrections Officer at FCI Ray Brook, from where he medically retired in November of 2025.

Brad was an exceptional man of high moral character. Those who knew Brad knew him to be a “walking encyclopedia" when it came to all things sports-related, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed his “Sundays with the boys,” poker games, placing the occasional sports bet, and researching cooking shows and recipes to prepare meals for his family.

Brad dedicated most of his adult life to coaching and mentoring young athletes, and this was his true passion. He was an assistant football coach and also coached baseball, girls’ softball, and helped with hockey and basketball as well.

Brad is survived by his loving parents and biggest supporters, Howard and Tami Garrow of Burke, NY; his brother, best friend, and protector, Craig Garrow of Malone, NY; the love of his life, Larissa Lane, and her daughter, Leighton Mills, of Malone, NY; his maternal grandmother, Marie Smith of Malone, NY; and his pets: his “Big Boy,” Cooper; cats Barky and Bella; and his special “fur buddy,” Louie. Brad is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends and colleagues, all of whom he loved dearly, as well as his brother’s group of close friends whom he loved and looked up to, and who regarded him as a “little brother.”

Brad was predeceased by his paternal grandmothers, Helen (Ashline) Garrow and Adrienne Garrow; paternal grandfather, Ross Garrow; maternal grandfather, Roland Hebert; an uncle, Randy Hebert; and a cousin, Nicholas Hebert.

Per Brad’s wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in Brad’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choosing. A scholarship fund in Brad’s name and memory will be forthcoming, with details to follow.

The family of Brad Garrow would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at UVM Burlington, CVPH Hospital, and the Reddy Cancer Center of Malone, NY.
