Gerald “Jerry” Joseph LaHart, 96, of Malone, New York, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on October 29, 1929, in Lake Placid, New York, the son of Henry and Anna LaHart. He graduated from Lake Placid High in 1948 and proudly went on to serve his country in the United States Army. During the Korean War, Jerry was stationed in Iceland, an experience he carried with pride throughout his life.
On February 27, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Betty Robinson, at Notre Dame church in Malone. Together, they shared over 60 years of love, family, and friendship.
Jerry worked as a salesman for Nabisco for 38 years, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and natural ability to connect with people, until his retirement in 1991.
An avid golfer, Jerry had a lifelong passion for the game. In 1995 he was Club Champion of the Malone Golf Club at the age of 65. Jerry continued to play the game he loved well into his 90s, golfing until the age of 94. Beyond golf, he enjoyed hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing, and bowling. He appreciated a good happy hour drink and always cherished spending time with his friends and family.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the Malone Elks Club, the American Legion, and the Malone Golf Club. These organizations were an important part of his life and community.
Above all else, Jerry will be remembered for his remarkable character. He was an honest, kind, and witty man who never failed to put his family and friends first. His warmth, integrity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
