John Jack McKinney, born on September 27, 1937, in Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on January 4, 2026. He was born to John and Erma (Light) McKinney. He was married to Carolyn Carron, she predeceased him in 1993. Later he married Ruth Farrell, who predeceased him in 2025.

He was a loving and devoted father to his daughters, Karen Kim Legault, Kathy (Andre) Seguin, and Kelly Head and companion, Greg.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Lisa, Chris and Tyler Legault, Natascha Jock, Jason and Daniel LaFlesh, Kyle McKinney, Chad and Cory Seguin, and Kelsey and Kyler Head; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jack also leaves behind a sister Joann (Mark) Bartowski of Syracuse NY.

Jack dedicated his professional life as a machinist in the automobile manufacturing industry, proudly working for General Motors in Massena, NY, until his retirement. He then spent winters in Myrtle Beach and did construction work. A veteran of the United States Army, Jack served his country honorably and maintained a strong sense of duty throughout his life. He was a passionate outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting and fishing, and often enjoyed the thrill of buggy riding adventures with Maggie, and the "rock boys." Jack had a creative spirit, and he expressed this through his wood carving, crafting heartfelt pieces that reflected his love for nature as living most of his life in Loon Lake. Above all, Jack (POPS) cherished the moments spent watching his grandsons play hockey and baseball where his enthusiasm and support were abundantly clear. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his steadfast work ethic, his zest for life and love of the Yankees. Jack's remains will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring in Loon Lake. He leaves behind a legacy of fond memories and the love of his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Raymond Head and Jack Legault and brothers, Donald and Gerald McKinney.
