It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles J. Ghostlaw, age 80, who left this world on February 1, 2026. Born on May 9, 1945, in Malone, NY, Charles lived a life dedicated to his family, his work, and the great outdoors. He proudly spent many years as a truck driver for Leroux Oil in Fort Covington, NY, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.
A resident of Bombay, NY, Charles was deeply rooted in his community and cherished the simple joys in life, particularly hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated member of the Bombay Fire Department for fifteen years and the last four of which he was the fire chief. Charles was also a longtime member of Weller Mountain where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He found peace and happiness there with many dear friends, who have also passed, creating lasting memories in the great northern woods and lakes.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie (Kazulak) Ghostlaw; and his sisters, Diane Stevens and Beverly Gunderson.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Suzanne Ghostlaw, and their daughter, Jessica King, along with her husband, Derek King. Charles was a devoted grandfather to Dominique, Sylis, and Kayne King, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also mourned by his siblings, brother, John Ghostlaw; sister, Shirley Terrien; and sister, Carol Smallman; along with brother-in-law, Kenny Smallman.
Charles will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and the laughter he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
A burial for Charles J. Ghostlaw will be held at a later date, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bombay, NY.
