It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen F. Perusse, who departed this life unexpectedly on May 1, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on September 4, 1957, in Massena, NY, Helen was a beloved member of her community and a cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends.

Helen worked many years at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, where her warm smile and kind demeanor made a lasting impression on countless patrons. She also worked for many years at Tru Stitch. In her free time, she took great joy in helping senior citizens, reflecting her compassionate spirit and commitment to others.

An adventurous soul with a passion for creativity, Helen was exceptionally skilled in ceramics and enjoyed expressing herself through her art. She loved sports, especially hockey. She was a loyal fan of the Montreal Canadians. She had a love for playing cards, bingo, and treasured the moments spent visiting with family. Helen's heart was especially full when surrounded by her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Children held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in their laughter and company.

As a devoted member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Mary's Church, Helen contributed to her faith community with grace and dedication, embodying the values of kindness and service she cherished.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Noella Charlebois; and her sister, Rita Bilmer; and brothers-in-law, Lyall Bilmer, Ronald Bergeron, and Charles Ghostlaw.

Helen is survived by her loving spouse, Kurt Perusse, and a large family, including her siblings, Carole Bergeron, Ronald and Debbie Charlebois, Madelaine and Peter Ordway, Suzanne Ghostlaw, Michael and Gilda Charlebois, Rose Marie and Dennis Burnham, Bernard and Christina Charlebois, Joann and Thomas Jock; as well as her sister-in-law, Kory Hagen. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her aunt, Theresa Guimond; her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, among many other family members and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their final respects on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Funeral Mass for Helen F. Perusse will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church of the Fort in Fort Covington.

Helen's radiant spirit, kindness, and love for others will forever be in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her memories will be cherished by all her family and friends.
