Obituary of Linda M. Bigness
~ Linda M. Bigness, 73, of Malone, NY., passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the U.V.M. Medical Center in Burlington, VT., surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Malone, NY., May 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Gladys Reome Tatro, Sr. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, NY.
On June 13, 1964, she was united in marriage to Dennis L. Bigness, at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY. He predeceased her on March 9, 2005.
Linda operated the cafeteria at Tru-Stitch Footwear on Constable Street and also the Dufrane Building in Malone, NY., for more than twenty years. She later worked as a civilian cook for New York State Department of Corrections at the Franklin Correctional Facility in Malone, for ten years. She also owned and operated Biggy’s Food Stand at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, for the past twenty seven years. She retired this year.
She was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone. Her Catholic Religion was very important to her. She made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina and several trips to Mary Queen of Our Hearts in Chertsey, Quebec. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing women’s softball. Wednesday nights were spent with her sisters and sisters in law playing games. Her husband, Dennis played in several local bands, and she was his number one fan. She also enjoyed bingo, camping, crocheting, cooking and canning. Her most precious times were spent with her friends and family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Dennis J. “DJ” Bigness of Peru, NY., three daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Christopher Crossman of North Bangor, NY., Denise and Thomas McLane of Westville, NY., and Stacy and Henry Venne of Morrisonville, NY., three brothers and four sisters in law, Gary and Nancy Tatro of Chateaugay Lake, NY., Rickey Tatro of Malone, NY., Dickey and Mary Tatro of Malone, NY., and Roni and Sandra Tatro all of Malone, NY., two sisters and a brother in law, Susan Tavernia and Jean and William Martin, Jr., all of Malone, NY., ten grandchildren, Jessica Probst and her husband Kyle, Chelsea and Brianna Poupore, Victoria Crossman, William, Lindsay and Abbey LaPage, Brennan Gervais and Reilly and Colbie Quinn, four great grandchildren, Ezra, Isaiah, Selah Probst and Wesley Gervais, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sons in law, Patrick Poupore and Keith Matott, four brothers, Donald Tatro, Jr., and John, Norman and James Tatro, and one sister and brother in law, Sally and Douglas Dear in an automobile accident in 1980.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY., or to the American Diabetes or American Kidney Association.
