Obituary of William R. Loffler
~William R. “Bill” Loffler, 91, of Malone, NY., passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Liverpool, NY., while under the loving care of his family and Hospice.
Born in Malone, NY., June 25, 1926, he was the son of the late William P. and Stella Mae Dudley Loffler. He attended local schools.
He served in the United States Marine Corp in the South Pacific from 1943 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946.
On July 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Marion L. LaPlant, at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY., by the late Rev. Revette. She predeceased him on June 5, 2008.
For more than twenty five years, Bill was employed by Seymour Roofing in Malone, NY. He retired as a foreman in 1975.
He was a communicant of St. Andre Besette Parish at Notre Dame Church in Malone, NY. He was a past member of the Malone Lodge of Moose. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Gregory Loffler and Lynn Winks-Loffler of Liverpool, NY., two granddaughters, Danielle Zadra and her husband Dan and Alison Loffler, one great grandson, Lucas Zadra, and a niece that Bill and Marion raised, Elizabeth Sorell of Fulton, NY., and several other nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY., on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, in Malone, NY., with full Military Rites provided by the Malone American Legion Post 219.
Donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
