~  Genevieve Marie Allain Latreille, 96, of Fort Covington, NY., passed away peacefully at her home, Friday evening, November 3, 2017.
   Born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, on January 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Sylvain and Osithe Maillet Allain.
   On April 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to William Robert Latreille, Sr. at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, NY. and spent the next sixty four years at her home, in Fort Covington, NY. Her husband predeceased her on November 11, 1984 after thirty six years of marriage.
   Genevieve was one of fifteen children, four brothers and ten sisters. She left New Brunswick as a young woman for employment in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. During World War 2, she worked at an aircraft repair facility supporting the war effort and later as a clerk in Eaton’s Department Store. She later became a Bell Telephone Bilingual Operator, where she worked until permanently moving to Fort Covington, NY., after her marriage.
   Her family and those who knew her would attest to her tremendous skill as a cook and baker. Her pies and potato salad were legendary and she rarely missed an opportunity to contribute her wares to church functions and the local fire department. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Fort Covington, NY., and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a religious instructor for church school. She was also a 4H Club leader for several years. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and siblings.
   Survivors include three sons and two daughters in law, Dr. William R. Latreille, Jr. and his fiancée, Dr. Myrna Sanchez of Malone, NY., Thomas and Jane Latreille of Columbia, TN., and Victor and Gail Latreille of Fort Covington, NY., one daughter and son in law, Mary Jane Latreille and her husband Daniel Honahan, II.,  of Malone, NY., two sisters, Helen Richard of Gardner, MA. and Noella Saulmier of Moncton, New Brunswick, nine grandchildren, Kim Stutts, John Paul Latreille, Sarah LaFleur, Christopher Latreille, Dr. Michael Latreille, Gregory Latreille, Alex Honahan, Nicholas Honahan and Benjamin Honahan, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one son Norman Latreille on July 15, 1968, and four brothers and eight sisters.
   Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, NY., with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the old St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Fort Covington, NY.
   Donations may be made in her memory to the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
   Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington, NY.
