~Carolyn A. “Ma Ma” McDonald, 70, of Moira, NY., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the U.V.M. Health Network Alice Hyde Medical Center, in Malone, NY., with her daughter Kelly McDonald, by her side.
   Born in Malone, NY., July 18, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Eva Marie Perreault Tavernia. She graduated from Franklin Academy, in 1965 and North Country Community College in 1986, with an Associate Degree in Applied Science.
   On February 5, 1965, she was united in marriage to Erwin Lloyd McDonald at St. George’s Church, in Burke, NY. He predeceased her on August 4, 1994.
   For more than twenty two years, she was employed by Sunmount Developmental Agency as a Developmental Assistant. She retired in 2009.
   Carolyn was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, in Brushton, NY. She was a member of the Brushton-Moira American Legion Auxiliary and the North Country Women’s Pool League. She enjoyed playing pool, reading, camping, four wheeling, travel, going to the Casino and building gigantic bon fires. Her favorite times were spent with her family especially her grandchildren.
   Survivors include, one son and daughter in law, Michael and Joyce McDonald of Winthrop, NY., one daughter, Kelly McDonald of Moira, NY., one sister, Linda Novko of Albany, NY., seven sisters-in-law, Theresa Tavernia of North Bangor, NY., Gloria Thompson, of Malone, NY, Lorraine Gravell of Malone, NY., Linda Eggleston of Columbia, TN., Janice Queen of Malone, NY., Judy Lamica of Burke, NY., and Karen Strid of Hebron, CT., one brother-in-law, Robert Rosa of Malone, NY., five grandchildren, Shelbie Ramsdell, Randy Murphy and his wife, Rachael, Candie Sweeney, Hope McDonald and Dylan Monette, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen Tavernia on July 1, 1992 and Michael Tavernia on October 22, 2014, and two sisters, Eleanor Kelly on February 28, 2005 and Kathy Rosa on November 29, 2015 and two brothers-in-law, Allen Gravell on December 27, 1989 and Darrel Thompson on October 5, 1997.
   Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-6 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, in Brushton, NY., with the Rev. Raymond Moreau officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, in Malone, NY.
   Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone, NY.
