Obituary of Everest G. Whitney
~~ Everest G. Whitney, 84, of Malone, NY., passed away early Wednesday morning, November 15, 2017, at The Alice Center, in Malone, NY., with his loving wife and family by his side. He had been a resident there since February 2.
Born in Malone, NY., April 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Leslie H. and Mildred Smith Whitney. He attended local schools.
On June 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Joyce Miles at St. George’s Church, in Burke, NY. She survives.
For more than thirty years, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Burke, NY. He also owned and operated Whitney’s Refrigeration for twenty nine years. He retired in 2000.
He was a communicant of St. George’s Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a past member of the Malone Lodge of Moose and the Malone Lodge of Elks.
Besides his wife, Joyce, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Leslie Whitney and his companion, Sharon Brooks of Chateaugay, NY., and Daniel and Sharon Whitney of Burke, NY., three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan and Steven Baldwin of Constable, NY., Deborah Kearns of Malone, NY., and Kathleen and Robert Rowe of Malone, NY., one brother-in-law, Treffle Faubert of St. Regis Falls, NY., nineteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews and two very close friends, Marvin and Mady Baldwin of Burke, NY.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his adopted mother, Freeda Whitney and one sister, Alys Faubert.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 22, 2017, from 10 until 11:30 a.m., at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. at St. George’s Church, in Burke, NY., with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Malone Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
