Obituary of Alpha J LaTray, Jr.

Alpha J. ”Junior” LaTray, Jr., 73, of Fort Covington, NY., passed away peacefully at the Hospital in Valleyfield, Quebec, with his loving family by his side. He had been a patient there since February 18. Born in Bombay, NY. June 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Alpha J. and Leona M. Jock LaTray, Sr. He graduated from Salmon River Central High School. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant. He was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline Wares. She predeceased him on December 6, 2007. Junior was a dairy farmer all of his life. He was also farm machinery and cattle dealer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Malone, NY., and Zephyrhills, FL. He enjoyed reading, dancing, playing chess, camping, working his farmland, and visiting his children and grandchildren. His most memorable times were spent traveling the world. On one of his trips, he backpacked across Australia, for a month. Survivors include one son, Marvin LaTray of Quincy, MA., three daughters and a son in law, Lesley and Andy DeBuque of West Monroe, NY., Althea LaTray and her life partner Heather Snyder of Bombay, NY., and Eloise LaTray and her companion, Jonathan Paquin of Constable, NY., one brother, Richard LaTray of Bombay, NY., one sister, Elaine Jeffery of Malone, NY., six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one sister, Linda Quenville. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, in Bombay, NY. Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY. On line condolences may be made to the family at www.brusofuneralservice.com.
