Obituary of Claire E. Poupore

Claire E. Poupore, 87, of North Bangor, NY., passed away early Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.

Born in Malone, NY., June 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Germaine Avon Benoit. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Malone, in 1949.

On October 9, 1954, she was united in marriage to Wallace “Baldy” Poupore at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. He predeceased her on June 19, 1995.

Claire was employed by the Franklin County Department of Social Services in the Children’s Agency from 1949 until 1957. After working for Social Services, she assisted her husband with the daily operation of their dairy farm and was the Matriarch of her family.

She was a long time communicant of St. John Bosco Church, in Malone and a past member of the St. John Bosco Altar Rosary Society. She was also a Eucharistic Minister for the Malone Catholic Parishes. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Her most precious times were spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Lynn Poupore, Scott and Judy Poupore, Peter Poupore, Aaron and Lori Poupore and Lisa Crossman all of Malone, NY., three daughters, Jeanne Lessor of Plattsburgh, NY., and Paula Poupore and Mary Kemp both of Malone, NY., two sisters, Lillian Yando of Malone, NY., and Rita LaRocque of Plattsburgh, NY., thirty one grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Patrick J. Poupore on July 3, 2000, one brother, Gerald Benoit on April 30, 2018 and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Yando and Marcel LaRocque.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m., at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone, NY.

Donations may be made in her memory to Holy Family School in Malone, NY. or to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
