Obituary of Earl T. Wood
Earl T. “Ted” Wood, 93, of Constable, NY., passed away early Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018, at the Highland Nursing Home, in Massena, NY. He had been a resident there since September 24, 2013.
Born in Buffalo, NY., August 25, 1924, he was the son of the late Harold and Mable Cayea Wood.
He served in the United States Navy from 1942 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. While in the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. South Dakota in the Philippines. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. From 1946 until his Honorable Discharge in 1949, he served in the United States Army stationed in Germany.
For more than twenty five years, Ted was employed by ALCOA in Massena, NY.
On August 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Helen B. Dustin. She predeceased him on November 5, 1988. On January 28, 1999, he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Lester Garceau at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY. She predeceased him on January 1, 2017.
He was a past member of the Malone Lodge of Moose. He enjoyed bowling and dancing.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Sally and Craig Waters of Lake Placid, NY., and Kelly and John Barney of Malone, NY., two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Garceau of Huntsville, AL. and Robert and Michele Garceau of Sumter, NC., four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents and his two wives, he was predeceased by one son, Robert Wood on November 28, 1990.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m., at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Bryan Bashaw officiating. Burial will be in the Coal Hill Cemetery in Westville, NY.
