Obituary of Joanne E. Wood

Joanne E. Wood, 84, of Westville, NY., passed away early Friday morning, August 3, 2018, at C.V.P.H. in Plattsburgh, NY., with her loving family by her side. She had been a patient there since August 1.

Born in Malone, NY., May 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Veronica Greenwood Bissonette. She graduated from Franklin Academy, in Malone.

On May 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to Truman A. “Lucky” Wood at Notre Dame Church, in Malone. He predeceased her on April 18, 2018.

She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Joanne was a member of the Malone Women of the Moose. She was also a member of WIBC and Bowling Belles League for more than sixty five years. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Her favorite times were spent in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends. She loved hosting dinners and parties.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Billy Grant of Winters, TX., six sons and four daughters-in-law, Mark and Victoria Wood of Fort Covington, NY., Gregory Wood and his companion, Jennifer White of Fort Covington, NY., Raymond Wood and his companion, Karen Rivers of Malone, NY., Michael and Debbie Wood of Westville, NY., John and Cynthia Wood of Constable, NY., Wade Wood of Columbia, MD., and Erin Wood of Bangor, NY., one sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Gerald Boyea of Malone, NY., a sister-in-law, Billie Bissonette of Fredericksburg, VA., 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Martin Bissonette and in 2002 a daughter-in-law Kathy Wood.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Westville, N.Y., with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, in Constable, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Westville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or to Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Westville, NY.
