Obituary of Lorraine A. Sears

Lorraine A. Sears, 91, of Hogansburg, NY., passed away early Monday morning, November 26, 2018, at the St. Regis Nursing Home, in Massena, NY. She had been a resident there since February 22.

   Born in Ogdensburg, NY., August 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Irene Ashley Carriere. She graduated from Massena High School.

   On November 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Sears. He predeceased her on March 10, 1990.

   Many years ago, Lorraine and John founded J&L Foodliner in Hogansburg, NY., and operated it together until they divorced. After the divorce, Lorraine renamed the store Four Corners Market and operated it until she retired in 1986.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, pull tabs and going to the Casino and Bingo Palace.

   Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Sears, of Hogansburg, NY., four grandchildren, Charlie, Josh and Jason Sears and Rain Parks, four great grandchildren, Alex and Jillian Sears, Noah Parks and Parker Hoeton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, William "Billy" Sears on December 24, 2016 and Michael "Mickey" Sears on October 19, 2002, one brother, Edward Carriere, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Castor Cook.

   There are no calling hours or Funeral Service.

   Donations may be made in her memory to the Seaway Valley Rescue Squad.
