Obituary of Dorothy M. Rivers

Dorothy M. Rivers, 99, of Malone, NY., passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2017, at the Alice Center, in Malone, NY. She had been a resident there since March 2016. Born in Ware, MA., January 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie LaMay Green. She attended Constable Union School. On September 18, 1934, she was united in marriage to John Rivers, Jr. in Malone, NY. He predeceased her on November 14, 2002. Several years ago Dorothy was employed in the cafeteria at St. Joseph’s Academy in Malone, NY. She later was employed at the Malone Dress Factory for twelve years and retired from there in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish at Notre Dame Church in Malone, NY. Dorothy really enjoyed her time spent working in her vegetable and berry gardens with her husband John at their home on the Perham Road. Survivors include three daughters and one son in law, Beverly and Thomas Campany of Clayton, NY., and Joyce Armstrong and Sharon Mayville both of Malone, NY., and by two daughters in law, Ginette Rivers and Diane Rivers both of Malone, NY. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by two sons, Norman Rivers on November 27, 1991, and Richard Rivers on March 29, 2006, one daughter in law, Myra Rivers, two sons in law, Glendon Armstrong and Randy Mayville, four brothers, Francis, Clayton, Ira, and Orin Green, and by two sisters, Beatrice Green and Dorothy’s twin sister Doris in infancy. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery at a date to be announced later in the Spring. Donations may be made in her memory to The Malone Adult Center.
