   Edith S. Gallien, 68, of Constable, NY., passed away unexpectedly, Friday, October 11, 2019, at her home.
   Born in Malone, NY., she was the daughter of the late John amd Louella Snyder Berkman. She graduated from Chateaugay High School and attended secretarial school.
   On February 7, 1970, she was united in marriage to Timothy D. Shanty at the Constable Methodist Church, in Constable, NY. He predeceased her on December 6, 1989. On August 26, 1994, she was united in marriage to Ronnie L. Gallien. He survives.
   Edith had a long working career. Many years ago, she was a secretary for Elliott and Hutchins, and later worked at the Malone Dress Factory, she later was employed by Malone Central Schools in the cafeteria at St. Joseph’s School, then she was a First Cook at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, a presser at American Village and lastly as a Nurse’s Aide the Farrar Adult Home, in Malone, NY.
   She is a past member of the Bangor Home Bureau. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and gardening. Her favorite times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren in the pool.
   Along with her husband, Ronnie, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brent O. and Judi Lynn Shanty of Malone, NY., one daughter and son-in-law, Julie L. and Matthew Campbell of Malone, NY., six brothers, John Berkman and his wife, Ann of Champlain, NY., Donald Berkman and his wife, Debbie of Ausable Forks, NY., Alex Berkman of Lake Forest, IL., Mark Berkman and Timothy Berkman both of Malone, NY., and Gary Berkman and his wife, Shannon of Rochester, NY., seven sisters, Patricia Berkman Dillabough and Gladys Berkman both of Malone, NY., Jane Mount Bartleson, Sue Giruzzi and her husband, David of Whitesboro, NY., Gertrude “Trudy” Nitti of Utica, NY., Laura Berkman and her companion, Dave of Lampasa, TX., and Louise Rosinski and her husband, Paul of Forestport, NY., five grandchildren, Taylor R. and Timothy J. Shanty and Timothy P., Elisabeth R. and James R. Campbell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Edith was also raised by foster parents, Milt and Shirley Faulkner who predeceased her. She has a foster brother, Greg Faulkner and a foster sister,  Marylou Falkner Hart.
   Along with her parents, foster parents and first husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and David Berkman and two sisters, Georgina Berkman Cummings and Nancy Berkman Hester.
   Calling Hours will be Friday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Constable Cemetery, in Constable, NY.
   Donations may be made in her memory to the Constable Volunteer Fire Department or E.M.S.
