Obituary of Frieda L. Willett
Frieda L. Willett, 87, of Malone, NY., passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, November 16, 2019, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.
Born in Whippleville, NY., September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Fridrich H. and Frieda Kogler Schmidt. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone.
Frieda was a waitress at Sansone’s Restaurant, in Malone, for more than twenty five years. She was also a waitress at the Malone Lodge of Elks for over ten years. Frieda was later know as the “Lunch Lady” at Flanders School, in Malone for twenty years.
Her family was her life, she loved having pajama parties with her granddaughters, attending dance recitals and sporting events with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed ceramics, camping at Lake Meacham, listening to old classic country music, traveling with her friends and her daily meals that were delivered by the Meals on Wheels Program.
On February 26, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Willett, Sr. at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY., by the late Rev. Rapin. Her husband predeceased her on July 14, 1982.
Survivors include three sons and four daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Willett, Jr. , Frederick and Sandra Willett and John and Sylvia Willett and Dana Willett all of Malone, NY., one daughter and two sons-in-law, Cheryl and Gregory Wilcox of Port Ewen, NY., and Jay Wiltz of Malone, NY., fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her loving cat "Peaches".
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one son, William “Willie” Willett in 2013, one daughter, Therese Wiltz in 2017, and three brothers, Fritz H. Schmidt and Henry and Willie Wahlrab.
Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m., at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. Burial will be in the new St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Child Road, in Malone.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Malone Adult Center Meals on Wheels Program or to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
