Obituary of Bertha R. Cox
Please share a memory of Bertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In the early hours of January 15th, Bertha Ruth Cox passed from this world to the next; finally reunited with her love, Basil, and the many family and friends who preceded her.
Born on January 24, 1937, Bertha Ruth was the daughter of the late Louis and Florida (Pecore) Perrin. She was united in marriage to Basil Olin Cox on November 22, 1957. Together, they raised seven children: Linda (Michael) Cox, Pamela (Leonard) Casey, Angela (Vernon) McCaffrey, Mona (Michael) Allen, Paula Cox, Basil (Sherry) Cox, Jr., and Scott (Hitomi) Cox.
Bertha was the matriarch of a growing family. Grandmother to Matthew, Tina, Shane, Kristen, Sarah, Annette, Christine, Ashley, Kimberly, Sara, Robert, Megean, Courtney, Amy, Michael, Benjamin, Danielle, Ryan, Kristine, Brandon, Melissa, and Paige, and Great-Grandmother to 31 of their children.
Bertha’s life was infused with a great love for her family and friends. She selflessly gave her time to those she loved, passing along her love of baking, crocheting, and playing games late into the night. She demonstrated the value of living in community with friends and family, and was always eager to celebrate with — and brag about — the people in her life.
She will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Janice Alden, her brother Wayne Perrin, her sisters-in-law Esther Kingston, Dorothy Cox, Joella Hadsell, and Nancy Keller, her brothers-in-law Andy and Clarence Cox, and her many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 20, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Bertha on Tuesday, January 21, at 10 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Church in Saint Regis Falls, with the Rev. Alfred H. Fish presiding.
