Marilyn A. Gravelle, 84, of Bloomingdale, NY., and formerly of Fort Covington, NY., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 20, 2020 , at her son Charles’s home in Bloomingdale.
Born in North Bangor, NY., April 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Flossie Barse Avery. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, NY.
Many years ago, Marilyn was employed at Tru-Stitch Footwear in Malone. She later was employed at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home, in Malone for more than twenty one years. She retired in 1993 as the Activities Director.
On July 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Gravelle in Cooks Corners, NY. He predeceased her in 2018.
She was a member of the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
Survivors include two sons, Rene’ Gravelle of Watertown, NY., Charles Gravelle of Bloomingdale, NY., three daughters and a two son-in-law, Colinda Gravelle of Gainesville, FL., Teena and Henry Palmer of Statesville, NC., and Penny and John Jackson of Santa Clara, CA., three brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Janice Avery of Oneida, NY., Ray and Marie Avery of Chickapee, MA., and Glenn and Sylvia Avery of Tanner, AL., one sister, Margaret Overman of Middleburg, FL., six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Fay Avery and one sister, Leda Gourley.
Calling Hours will be Saturday from 10 until 11:30 a.m., at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon in the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Bentley McQuinn officiating. Burial will be in the North Bangor Cemetery.
