Philip G. Safford, 65, of Constable, NY., passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020, at C.V.P.H. in Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Lancaster, MA., January 6, 1955, he was the son of the late Everett and Mildred Whiting Safford. Many years ago, Phil was employed at a plastic factory in Leominister, MA. He later was a self employed logger. He retired about ten years ago, because of his health. On December 5, 1981, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Rushlow in Hopkinton, NY. She predeceased him on September 7, 2017. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo, going to the casino and playing pool in the Tony’s Pool League. He had served as president and past social coordinator of the Catherine Street Housing Complex. He cherished spending time with his brother-in-law Conrad Rushlow. Survivors include his caretaker and niece, Charlotte Perry of Constable, four stepdaughters, five step grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Conrad Rushlow of Constable, NY., a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wells of Helena, NY., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one step daughter, two brothers and four sisters. A Funeral Service and burial will be held later in the spring on a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in the new St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Fort Covington, NY. Donations may be made in his memory to the Constable Volunteer Fire Department or E.M.S. or to the J.C.E.O. Medical Transport Department.
