Colleen M. Rust, 68, of Malone, NY., passed away early Tuesday morning, June 9, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.
Born in Malone, NY., May 4, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Maureen O’Hara Peryea.
On October 27, 1973, she was united in marriage to Donald C. Rust in Malone, NY. He survives.
Many years ago, Colleen was employed in the custodial department of the Lake Placid Club in Lake Placid, NY. She later was a lunch lady, worked at the Holiday Inn and lastly the Y.M.C.A. all in Schenectady, NY. In her later years, she was employed by the Franklin County Nursing Home and cleaned homes in Malone.
Colleen enjoyed riding her bicycle, dancing, shopping, playing bingo, hiking, fishing, playing cards with her friends and listening to music. She was excited to hear her request of the Righteous Brothers played on WICY. Colleen devoted her life to raising her children and was always willing to help other families. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Donald C. Rust, Sr., she is survived by one son, Donald C. Rust, Jr. of Constable, NY., six daughters, Lisa Rust of Schenectady, NY., Amy Rust of Malone, NY., Mary Rust and her companion, George Bessey of Malone, NY., Tiffany Lamica and her husband, Isaac of North Bangor, NY., Danielle Rust and her companion, Devon Johnston of Malone, NY., and Destiny Rust of Malone, NY., an adopted daughter, Amy Cromp of Malone, NY., one sister, Maureen “Pat” Hubbard of Webster, NY., twenty two grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, John and Allen Peryea and a adopted son-in-law, Jason Cromp.
A Graveside Service and burial will be held Friday at Noon, at Notre Dame Cemetery, in Malone, NY., with the Rev. Alfred Fish officiating.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT., or to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
