Obituary of Theresa M. Boardway

Theresa M. Boardway, 90, of Malone, NY, passed away Sunday morning, November 29, 2020, at The Alice Center, in Malone, NY. Born in Malone, NY, May 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hershell and Eva Benware Ayers. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, in 1948. Many years ago, Theresa was employed by Hyde Drug Store in Malone. She later was employed by Warner Brothers Factory in Malone. For many years Theresa operated a catering business along with her friend Joyce Wemette. She retired in 1980. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Westville, NY and a life member of the St. Francis of Assisi Altar Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, for more than thirty five years and a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers for more than twenty years. Theresa was a member of the Malone Amvets Post # 8 Auxiliary and was a past President of the New York State Amvets Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Malone Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary for many years. Theresa enjoyed working in her yard and gardens, knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch. On September 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Frank A. Boardway at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, by the late Rev. Sequin. Her husband predeceased her on April 1, 1986. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lisette and Michael Maguire of Malone, NY, one son, Zachary Boardway and his companion, Maureen Faubert of Malone, NY, three grandchildren, Mathew Boardway, and Maura and Maeve Maguire and one great granddaughter, Emma Boardway. Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Robin Boardway on February 9, 2013 and one sister, Marjorie Ayres. There are no calling hours. Funeral Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the old St. Joseph’s Cemetery, in Malone, NY.
