Obituary of Bernard L. Harte

Bernard L. Harte, 88, of Constable, NY., passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at his home. Born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on September 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Norman and Charlette Dowl Harte. He attended local schools and served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea from 1952-1954. He was employed at McGeachie’s Garage in Constable, NY., and later ran his own garage. Bernie also worked on construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. He was a collector of coins, plates and diecast cars. Bernard loved spending time with his family, and had a particular fondness for baseball. He also coached softball and broomball in local leagues and loved children. He was wed to the former Arlene Dufrane. She predeceased him on August 25, 2011. He is survived by his Son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cathy Harte of Constable; his daughter Laurie Brown of Constable; his two brothers Donald and Bruce Harte; his six grandchildren, Todd Brown, Bernard Brown, Brian Harte, Tiffany Holmes, Bradley Harte and Alisa Degon; several great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Graham, Bobby and Gaylord Harte, his sisters Barbara Mallette and Cheryle Turner and a son-in-law John Brown.
