Ruth L. Allen, 92, of Fort Covington, NY, passed away the morning of Sunday, May 2, 2021, at her home while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.. Born April 19, 1929 in Bangor, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Lucy Jock. She attended Bombay High School. On April 29, 1946, she was married to Norman F. Allen, Sr. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington. He predeceased her on February 22, 2002. Ruth was employed by the Malone Dress Factory for many years before retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington and was also a volunteer worker at St. Mary’s Bingo. She was a longtime member of the Malone Women of the Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo, going to the casino and visiting her family and friends in Canada. She was a loving caregiver to many family members and friends throughout her life. Toward the end of her life, she received care from her daughter Diane Monette and grandchildren, Melissa Allen, Tammy Monette, Jamie Monette and Kaylee Adams. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Monette (Allen) and her companion Emeal Reyome of Fort Covington; a daughter-in-law, Dorleen Allen of Westville, NY; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sons, Anthony Allen, Norman “Sonny” Allen Jr. and Marty Allen Sr.; two daughters Mary Allen and Robin Allen; five brothers, Stephen Jock, Irving Jock, Eugene Jock, Joseph Jock and Earl Jock; five sisters, Bertha Elmer, Myrtle Jock, Rita Jock, Nellie Hart and Nora Lamica; and a daughter-in-law, Sheila Allen. Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington, NY. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the old St. Mary’s Cemetery on Route 37, in Fort Covington on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roger Willingham presiding. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the North Country, Inc. or the Fort Covington Rescue in her name.
