Joseph M. “Woody” Woodward, 82, of Malone, NY, passed away Monday night, August 9, 2021, at the U.V.M. Health Care Center Alice Hyde, in Malone, NY. He had been a patient there since July 21.
Born in Lyon Mountain, NY, August 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank and Irene Ducharme Woodward, Sr. He served in the United States Army from 1955 until his Honorable Discharge in 1959.
For more than thirty five years, Woody drove tractor trailer for Mayflower in Plattsburgh, NY, Plattsburg Distributing, Elliott-Hutchins and lastly Franklin County Highway Department. He retired on November 3, 2013.
He was a member of the Malone American Legion and Firing Squad, and Malone Amvets. He enjoyed woodworking, snowmobiling, camping and bowling.
On August 15, 1992, he was united in marriage to the former Carol Joan Clark in Malone, NY. She predeceased him on June 23, 2014.
Survivors include one son , Malcolm Woodward and his companion, Crystal Stansberry of Peru, NY; two daughters, Michelle Powers of Peru, NY, and Melissa Beshaw and her husband, Terry of Champlain, NY; three stepdaughters, Deborah LaBrake and her husband, Jack of Malone, NY, Linda Fairchild of Malone, NY, and Rebecca Livernois and her husband Roger of Owls Head, NY; a stepson-in-law, Lawrence Grant of New Port Richey, FL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Debbie Woodward, Jr. of Lyon Mountain, NY, and Edwin and Gerry Woodward of Chazy Lake, NY; two sisters, Sybil Woodward of Lyon Mountain, NY, and Kathryn Cooper of Rouses Point, NY; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon, in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery with full Military Rites.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Malone American Legion, Malone Amvets or to the North Country Honor Flight.
