Obituary of Shirley J. Carpenter
~Shirley J. Carpenter, 86, of St. Regis Falls, NY., and formerly of Rochester, NY., passed away Thursday morning, June 15, 2017, at The Alice Center, in Malone, NY., with her loving family by her side. She had been a resident there since March 9, 2010.
Born in Clare, NY., May 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mayfred Fiefield Leonard.
Shirley worked in several hospitals and nursing homes in the Rochester area as a nurses aid for many years. She later managed restaurants in Rochester and Hilton, NY., retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, coloring and interior decorating.
Survivors include one son, Roy Tarbell of Rochester, NY., two daughters, Suzanne and her husband, John Nickerson of Palmer, TX., and Barbara Tarbell and her companion, John Finnegan of St. Regis Falls, NY., three grandchildren, Josh Vann and his companion Coraann Barnes of Saranac, NY., and Matthew Nickerson and Krystal Nations of Palmer, TX., two great granddaughters, Arabella Vann and Harlee Slagel.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Richard C. Tarbell, two daughters, Michelle Taylor and Lisa Walsh, one brother, Calvin Leonard, two sisters, Lucinda Glennon and Betty Barnholdt and one grandson, Jordan Vann.
Calling hours will be Monday from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 50 North Main Street, St. Regis Falls, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Alfred Fish officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, in St. Regis Falls, NY.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Patient Activity Fund at The Alice Center, in Malone, NY.
