Obituary of Betty Winters

Betty Winters, 84, of North Bangor, N.Y., passed away on January 18, 2022 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Sharon and Jim Barney in Malone, N.Y., surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. Born on May 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Viola Henderson Pelkey. She attended local schools and on October 20, 1956, she was wed to Brice Winters at the Park United Methodist Church in Moira, N.Y. Brice survives. Betty was a homemaker who loved shopping and going for rides to visit her grandchildren, and loved fishing and bowling. She was a member of the Brushton Grange and the Unique Vintage Car Club. Among her survivors, along with her husband, are three daughters and their husbands; Deborah & Gary Durant of North Bangor, Sharon & James Barney of Malone and Leigh and Henry Tuper of Port St. John Florida, a surrogate daughter; Bernie Hamlin, two brothers; Robert and Clara Pelkey of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and Eugene & Mary Pelkey of Beekmantown, N.Y., four sisters Katherine Eure of Maryland, Linda Pearl of Chazy, N.Y., Dorothy and Kevin Allen of Morrisonville, N.Y., and Marilyn Pelkey, residing in Arizona, as well as eight grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Betty was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Gary, Maynard, Merrill and Melvin and her sisiters Lois Thibeault and Joan Pelkey.
