Obituary of Anita Normandeau

Marie “Anita” Normandeau, 91, of Malone, N.Y., passed away at her home on June 20, 2022, under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Born on June 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Eusebe and Albina Vaillancourt Soucy. After high school, Anita attended college in Canada, earning a teaching certificate. She taught briefly in Canada and then was a homemaker after marrying Ray Normandeau on June 2, 1953 in Ormstown, Quebec. Anita loved her grandchildren and could often be found in her kitchen making her famous apple pie for them. She was a lifelong seamstress, having made wedding gowns, Christmas P.J.’s and Baptismal ensembles. Anita also was a prayer warrior, always offering prayers for family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands; Sylvie and Howard Mulcahey of Bluffton, South Carolina, Judy and Scott Hamilton of Malone and Lynne and Dan Dumont of Malone, and her daughter-in-law Tracie Normandeau of Constable, N.Y. She also leaves behind fourteen grand and nine great grandchildren. Anita’s son Paul Normandeau predeceased her on October 22, 2021, and her husband Ray on April 1, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at noon on Friday, June 24 with Father Steve Murray, Pastor of St. Andre Bessette Parish officiating. The Mass will also be live streamed on the church’s face book page. Following Mass, burial for Anita and her husband Ray will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone.
