Obituary of Phyllis J. Marshfield
~ Phyllis J. Marshfield, 76, of Fort Covington, NY., passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2017, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.
Born in Bangor, NY., February 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Leona Bashaw Mitchell. She attended local schools.
He first husband was James O’Jida and he predeceased her. On July 11, 1985, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Marshfield, in Zephyrhills, FL. He predeceased her on February 21, 2010.
Phyllis was a waitress at the Long Ways Truck Stop, in Central Square, NY., for more than ten years. She later worked in the custodial department at Salmon River Central School, for nine years.
She enjoyed playing cards, home crafts, computer games, lottery tickets and canning. She will be missed by her furry friends, her dog Mya and her cat Sassy.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, James O’Jida, Jr. of Brushton, NY., and Harold and Shawna Marshfield, Jr. of Binghamton, NY., seven daughters and two sons in law, Mary and Harold Capstraw of Brushton, NY., Tina Jewtraw and her companion, Cory White of North Bangor, NY., Pamela O’Jida and her companion, Charles Joyner of Fort Covington, NY., Tammy O’Jida and her companion, David Converse of Buffalo, NY., Beckie O’Jida of Florida, Kimberly O’Jida and her companion, William O’Hara of Florida and Annie and Thomas McClain of Cary, NC., two brothers and a sister in law, Douglas Mitchell and Fred and Arlene Mitchell all of Moira, NY., one sister, Betty Russell of Moira, NY., twenty six grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her two husbands, she was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Robert and Donald Mitchell and four sisters, Vera DeChamp, Theresa O’Jida, Jean Mulverhill and Eleanor Curtis.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, in Bombay, NY.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY.
