Dr. James (pastor jim) Randall posted a condolence

I always knew John as a hardworking, knowledgeable, and very caring person concerning anything involving the classroom.
I met John in 1978 while pursuing my Masters degree @ St Lawrence. What can one say about how a class in statistics went? John pretty much saved me throughout the course with his patient, kind, and personal interest that he demonstrated for my education.
John was "glue" that held the entire graduate education department together for many years, and the one regret I have regarding knowing him, was not accepting a graduate professorship @ St. Lawrence when it was offered to me in 1990. I can only imagine how much more I would have learned from John as a colleague, and am confident that Dr.'s Fox and Ladd will sorely miss that "Maine madness" sense of humor.
I look forward to seeing John in the future when we will all share the Lord's supper......
yours in Christ,
Pastor Jim Randall

I am sorry to hear of the passing of uncle John. Although I did not know him well, I do recall a trip to his cabin in Canada? I remember most, his smile. I recall jumping off the dock and swimming in the lake, which was a big deal for a little girl. I remember my father talk about growing up with his brother on the chicken farm and walking long distances to school.
May his family find peace and ease during this time of grief and transition.

My thoughts and prayers are with John's family during this time. John was a very special, and kind man. I believe that he taught most of the North Country the art and science of statistics as well as many life lessons throughout his long career. His impact in the North Country and beyond was remarkable. John was always a pleasure to have a conversation with regardless of the topic and will be greatly missed by many. May John Hall rest in peace.

Dr. Hall was my Advisor and Professor at SLU. He inspired me to be a better student and gave me the confidence and support I needed. When I remember the people who helped me and made a difference, I think of him fondly. I am forever thankful to Dr. Hall and saddened to hear of his passing.
My sincere condolences to his family.

I was very fortunate to have John as an instructor while enrolled in the graduate program at St. Lawrence. Many of the skills I learned were used throughout my teaching career. Fond memories to a great educator and friend. Wes Snyder

I remember Dr. Hall as such a nice and caring man. When I was young I would hang out at Atwood Hall as my mom Ruth Stokes worked with him in the Education Department. We were also neighbors on Church Street. Sorry for your loss
