Obituary of Theresa M. Gardner

Theresa M. Gardner passed away July 25th at her home, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born October 20, 1956 in Massena, New York to Marilyn and the late Robert Gale. She attended nursing school in Plattsburgh and worked at NorthStar and Alice Hyde Hospital before settling at the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Health Services. She worked there for 32 years where she cared for many patients and considered them family and friends.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Gardner on March 3, 1979, he predeceased her in 2015.
She is survived by her mother Marilyn, her children Laurie, Andy and Emily Gardner, her grandchildren Eddie and Liam Gardner, her chosen children Chelsea Carnie and Adam Avery, her brother Robert and his wife Susan, her sister Sara and her husband Gary. Her sister-in-laws Jeanne Gardner, Aida Gardner, Cathy Riley and Judy Cooper. She is also survived by her best friend of many years Denise MacDonald and her neighbors and close friends Delton and Amy Poupore and by her beloved dog Ellie.
She is predeceased by her husband Joe, father Robert Gale, sister Laurie Gale, mother and father-in-law Rita & Ed Gardner, her brother-in-laws Bill, Donnie and Dave Gardner, and sister-in-laws Patsy Steen and Susan Terano.
She enjoyed being on her boat and relaxing at her camp on Fraser’s Point. She adored her 2 grandsons and loved spending time with them.
In lieu of flowers Theresa’s family would like to advocate regular cancer screenings so that nobody has to fight the same battle and also to take the time to enjoy life. If you would like to make a donation, please consider donating to an animal society.
She will be waked at her home, 47 Smiddy Road Fort Covington from 12-9p.m. Friday July 28 & Saturday July 29 followed by a small graveside ceremony for family at Carvel Cemetery Brasher Falls at a later date.
