Donald J. Dufrane, Jr., age 86, of Fort Covington, N.Y., passed away on July 3, 2024 at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility after a brief illness. Born on March 6, 1938 in Tupper Lake, N.Y., he was the son of the late Donald Lorenzo Sr. and Dorothy Mae Marlowe Dufrane. On July 27, 1957, he was wed to the former Marie Clara Humiston at St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay, N.Y. with The Rev. Gallagher officiating. She predeceased him on March 7, 2019. Donald worked at the Power Authority of the State of New York (later New York Power Authority) for thirty-four years. He was a past member of both the Fort Covington K of C and Malone Lodge of Moose and loved woodworking and photography and making model ships, cars and planes. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Laurie Dufrane of Brasher, N.Y. and a daughter Annette (David) Grinnell of PA., as well as two grandchildren, Jared Arborgast and Trudy (Daniel) Moore and great grandchildren, Logan Arbogast, Maddison Schultz and Robert Schutz, and chosen family Leonard & Donna Bowen. At Donald’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be held at Constable Protestant Cemetery on Tuesday, July 16 at 3p.m. alongside his beloved Marie. Donations may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements are through Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove in Fort Covington, N.Y.
