Obituary of James F. McCormick

James F. McCormick, age 80, of Malone, passed away at his home on November 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on June 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Harrigan) McCormick. Jim graduated high school and went on to earn an associates degree. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1965-1968. After his service to country, he spent his career at Niagara-Mohawk Power Corp. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., retiring on November 1, 1999, after 35 years of service as a Hot Stick Line Foreman. He is survived by his sister; Marguerite Nelson of Brushton, his companion and best friend Madlyn Hamelin of Constable. Nephews Todd and Troy Nelson. Sister-in-law; Katherine McCormick, Nephews Karn (Heather) McCormick and Michael McCormick, two nieces; Crystal Houle, and Kelly Baxter. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald McCormick. Calling Hours will take place from 3-6p.m. on Sunday, November 24 at Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 25, at St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Hinchinbrooke, Quebec. Arrangements are under the care of the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.
