Obituary of John "Bob" Fellion

John “Bob” Fellion, age 85, of Malone, passed away Friday morning, April 14, 2017, at the UVM Healthcare Network at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY., with his loving family by his side. Born in Malone, NY., on March 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Hosson Fellion. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone in 1946. John served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57 until his honorable discharge. On May 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Marilyn Primeau at Notre Dame Church in Malone. She survives. After serving his country John was the owner and operator of George’s Fruit Market on Main Street in Malone for 42 years. He retired from there in 1998. He was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish at Notre Dame Church in Malone, having previously served on the Parish Council. John was also a Malone Town Councilman for 14 years, a member of the Malone Knights of Columbus and past President of the Emmaus Soup Kitchen. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, puttering around his home, fishing, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. John will always be remembered for his long hours of work at the store to be the best provider he could for his wife and children. He was always willing to sacrifice and give to others in the community. Surviving besides his wife Marilyn are two daughters and a son in law, Constance Fellion of South Burlington, VT., and Lori and Paul Ledak of Williston, VT., one brother and sister in law, Lawrence and Debbie Fellion of Morrisonville, NY., three sisters and a brother in law, Louise Moossa of Charlotte, NC., Eleanor and Ernest Fleury of West Palm Beach, FL., and Geraldine Smith of Syracuse, NY. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicholas, Quinn and Lily Ledak and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by four brothers, Francis, George, Richard and Gerald Fellion. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 3-6 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Malone American Legion Post 219. Donations may be made in his memory to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service Inc. of Malone, NY.
