I went to school with David and I feel like I have known him forever. I am truly the lucky one because David entered my life as a lifelong friend. He had such a generous, kind and loving soul. I will never meet anyone like him again. I love you David, and now you can rest peacefully in God’s arms. I will pray for you and your family.

When I worked for the Telegram so many, many years ago, I photographed Dave for some reason or another, and we published the photo. Throughout the years that have followed, Dave went out of his way to greet me and express his appreciation. He always remembered my name while I struggled at times to remember his. Wherever there was a good cause and someone was needed, Dave was there.

To Pat and the Sauther family,
It was sad for us to learn the news regarding the passing of David. When our son (Tom III) participated in scouting activities with Malone pack 61, Dave was always gracious and extremely helpful with assisting and mentoring during the meetings. We will never forget his friendly smile and positive attitude.
We hope that all of you in the Sauther family are able to find comfort in the company of family and friends at this time.
-Sincerely,
Tom II & Patty Ventiquattro

Such an amazing beautiful person. I met David at the relay for life one of the first ones held in malone in 1998. There weren’t many of us survivors back then but it brought our community of cancer survivors together. David was always so proud of how big the celebration got. Even as I moved acrossed the world to Germany as a military family I always looked forward to catching up at the yearly relay. David you were the strongest cancer survivor we all know. You always had a smile on your face but more importantly you made sure to make sure everyone had a smile on theirs. You have the best view of the Yankees games now my friend. may we all continue to fight and be warriors just like David.

Will miss you and your caring thoughts. My biggest memory was the first time when we had a Scout meeting at your house. I brought Saphire with me when she was about 2 months old and about 7 pounds. She was crying and David picked her up and cuddled her in his arms and rocked her. She immediately stopped crying and from that day on you two were good friends. Hope you got your card with her picture we sent. You will be forever missed.
