Obituary of Edward P. Strong

Edward P. Strong, age 85, of Westville, N.Y., passed away March 13, 2023 at The University of Vermont Health Network; Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y.
He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. and grew up in Reber, N.Y. on a farm owned by his father and mother Phillip and Mabel LaBounty Strong. He graduated from Willsboro High School in 1955 and attended Canton ATC. In 1957, he married Shirley French of Lewis, N.Y. and began his career with Agway Petroleum as a delivery driver and then manager of the Sub Plant in Westport. During his 20+ years with his first wife they had two children, Dawn and Mark.
His career with Agway took him to many larger plants as manager and he retired in 1998 as Plant Manager of Malone Agway Petroleum.
While in Malone, he married Dotty Trombley in November 1985.
Ed was a Free Mason, member of the Malone Lodge of Elk’s and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Fort Covington. During his retirement he held the elected position of Westville Town Supervisor and previously was a town board member. Ed loved to hunt and fish and belonged to the Mountain Spring Club in Standish, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Phillip and Mabel Strong, his half-brother Donald Covel Sr., his first wife Shirley French and his second wife Dorothy Trombley.
He is survived by his children Dawn Stebbins Larrabee and her husband Barry of New Hampshire and her children; twins Tom and Katrina as well as Jodie and Chris, his son; Mark Strong and his wife Kellie of Syracuse, N.Y., and their children Adam, Kyra, Regan and Evan, in addition to his nephew Donald Edward Covel, Jr. and his family of Peru, N.Y., and his best friend Terry Avery of Westville.
Calling Hours will take place at the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington N.Y. on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Covington at 11 a.m., with The Rev. Howard Cain presiding.
Spring burial will be in Reber Cemetery next to Dotty and his parents.
